A Hot Air Balloon is made out of a single layer of gas bags. The gas bags open at the bottom which is also known as the throat. The gas bag is attached by heavy ropes to the gondola (basket). Mounted above the basket is an air heater (burner). The burner injects a flame into the balloon, heating the air inside, causing it to inflate the balloon. Once fully inflated the heat causes the balloon to rise.
