    Ruth Ashby writes about important events, people and places. Reading this book helped us learn more about the Underground Railroad than we knew before.

Gorrell, K. Gena. North Star to Freedom, Story of the Underground Railroad. New York: Bantam Doubleday Dell Publishing Group, Inc.1996
      Gena K. Gorrell was the first black woman elected to the legislature of British Colombia. Her book is very important to our project because she has a Quaker background, and a Christian religion whose members helped runaway slaves.

Monroe, Judy. The Underground Railroad, Bringing Slaves North to Freedom. Minnesota: Capstone Press.2003
    Judy Monroe's book explains what happened on the Railroad and everything about it. It really helped us learn more about the Underground Railroad and how it changed America.
