The number of cell phones in the world is growing incredibly. In Latin America, the number of cell phones has tripled since 1999, and one in five people own a cell phone. In many countries in that region, there are more cellular phones than land-lines. It has increased due to the prepaid plans that are available. Prepaid plans are just phone cards that have minutes that work for cell phones. The owner of the cell phone can just buy a coded card with phone time and just charge up your phone with time credit. According to the CTIA (Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association), there are 46.1 million business, institutional and government landline users and 141.4 million residential and small business landline users in the U.S. But there are 151.8 million wireless subscribers and the number is steadily increasing while the number of landlines is decreasing. I prefer the cell phone over the old ground line telephones. Cell phones have the same features of a telephone such as calling and receiving calls, but they have more. Cell phones these days include the internet. You can now access your email and text message people online or on other phones. You can also play games, listen to music and watch video clips on cell phones now. They also come with a camera and built in speaker for even more mobility. More features are always a plus, so thats why i choose cellphones over ground line phones. ![]() Source: google.com Above: It is a comparison between the first phone and one of the newer phones of this year. You can see that features have more than doubled, and the size and recharge time of the phone has been significantly reduced. | |
